Meet WITTY MINSTREL a music artist and the winner of the 2020 edition of the Cameroon Heroes Award, in the category of Impact Music Artist of the year. He is a Cameroonian based multilingual artist; Singer, Rapper, Song Writer/Movie Script Writer and Actor. Identified with and signed to PIRIP BOI RECORDS, growing up, WITTY MINSTREL has always had interest in music.
In the early 2000s he started putting his passion into acting and recorded his first song while in St Sylvester’s college, titled ‘No to corruption’. His unending passion for music guided him into the music studios in Buea after high school. He used the opportunity to refine his sound engineering talent into a skill while at Chillen Music Entertainment. As a Sound engineer specialized in movies he has worked with, Believe Entertainment, Chamberline Entertainment, Oremo Production, Blue Rain Entrainment and many others. He officially began his music career with Chillen Music in 2005 and released his first album of 18 songs titled ‘Faith to Follow’ this was followed by three music videos inclusive. Featured among these songs were collaborations with some great artists.
WITTY MINSTREL was nominated for the Cameroon Heroes award because of the impact of his music which has touched many lives. This award was to recognize and celebrate an individual who has demonstrated outstanding records or achievements through his talents/works in the music industry and has used his work to impact the community and to promote socioeconomic growth or development of the community and the nation at large. All nominees had a 40% votes from the general public, 50% votes from the commission of independent judges and 10% votes from the GAICAM board. The judges which constituted 50% of the vote had to carry out their background checks and private reviews in order to independently pass their judgment to whether the candidate deserve the award or not. Witty Minstrel had a 17% vote from our independent commission of judges, a 17.06% vote from the general public and an 8% vote from the GAICAM board. Making a total vote of 42.06% final results with the runner up having 27.1% which made him the winner of the said category.
