Meet Wilson NJOFIE, a winner of the 2020 edition of the Cameroon Heroes Award, in the category of Impact Tech Promoter of the year. Wilson a web developer, very passionate about creating a positive impact in transforming Cameroon through digital technology. Founder and CEO of a free online digital technology training platform called Afritech Academy.
He has helped thousands of people for over 10 years. Under his leadership, his team has built 26 online courses in diverse ICT fields including areas like general ICT, Microsoft office, digital marketing and coding. These skills which reduces digital illiteracy and empower our students to develop solutions to solve societal problems. The offer these courses 100% free through Afritech Academy organization. Since January 2021, they have had more than 1600 students registered learning on their platform. Their students have started businesses with skills learned. Some have engaged in developing technology innovations which will solve many societal and business problems in Cameroon.
Wilson was the winner of the Cameroun Heroes Award because of the impact of his Tech promotion activities which has touched many lives. All nominees had a 40% votes from the general public, 50% votes from the commission of independent judges and 10% votes from the GAICAM board. The judges which constituted 5% of the vote had to carry out their background checks and private reviews in order to independently pass their judgment to whether the candidate deserve the award or not. Njofie Wilson had a 25% vote from our independent commission of judges, a 20.38% vote from the general public and a 4% vote from the GAICAM board. Making a total vote of 49.38% final results with the runner up having 40% which made him the winner of the said category.
Congratulations once again Njofie Wilson for your hard work. You have greatly contributed to the growth and development of your community. Your indiscriminate sacrifices and brilliant initiative activities has gone a long way in improving the lives of young people. Making you our hero of the year.
