Meet Samuel SAFO TCHOFO, the winner of the 2020 edition of the Cameroon Heroes Award, in the category impact industrial innovator of the year. He is a graduate in engineering who spent 27 years in Petroleum Industry abroad and decided to come back to participate to our local development. His activity when from research to the invention of the Safo Egusi Machine which spend more than 20 years on his research and the designing and construction of a complete processing factory based on transforming egusi to various products that include Egusi oil for health, beauty and its dry flower for nutrition, pastry, cookies etc. Egusi grains have a lot of virtues in nutrition, health, beauty that were not used in the past because of the lack of technology to Husk them. Their industrial activity is 100% made in Cameroon, based on their research, they have developed and built a complete factory that is made 10 different machines in a chain. They husk more than 300 kg of egusi per day, while it takes 6 months to do it manually.
Samuel was nominated for the Cameroon Heroes award because of the impact of his industrial innovation which has touched many lives. This award category was to recognize an individual who is topping industrial innovation in the areas of mechanical, electrical or auto mobile engineering, etc and whose innovation has impacted the lives of people in the community and contributed to the growth and development of the nation. All nominees had a 40% votes from the general public, 50% votes from the commission of independent judges and 10% votes from the GAICAM board. The judges which constituted 50% of the vote had to carry out their background checks and private reviews in order to independently pass their judgment to whether the candidate deserve the award or not. Safo had a 22% vote from our independent commission of judges, a 1.45% vote from the general public and a 6% vote from the GAICAM board. Making a total vote of 29.45% final results with the runner up having 28.53% which made him the winner of the said category.
Congratulations once again Samuel Safo for your hard work. You have greatly contributed to the growth and development of your community. You have been an inspiration through your patience in research to many youths and Cameroon at large. This has made you our Hero of the year. Your start-ups initiative has created many jobs for youths and has reduced unemployment.
