Meet GEMNDA Emmanuel Angwa, the winner of the 2020 edition of the Cameroon Heroes Award, in the category of Impact Audio Media Personality of the year. Gemnda Emmanuel is the Station Manager of CBS Bamenda and PCC Regional Communication Secretary, North West Region, a voice over artist and an MC.
Emmanuel is a dedicated journalist keen on exploring unexpected angles and having over 10 years of experience. He has mentored and supervised over 250 Student Journalists/Journalists in the last 9 years now having success stories and creating impact in the media and communication. He has been running educational programs like ENGLISH 101, inspirational programs like REFLECTIONS and empowerment programs like MEN’S TALK on CBS Buea and Bamenda which has gone a long way to impact a population of over 6 million people in Cameroon and several millions around the world. He has produced several campaign programs on conflict transformation, humanitarian reporting, peace, justice, violence, Covid_19, IDPs, family. Gemnda Emmanuel manages a staff of 15 persons and over 100 volunteers as External Broadcasters.
Emmanuel was nominated for the Cameroon Heroes award because of the impact of his audio media activities which has touched many lives. This award category was to acknowledge an individual who has adhered to the journalism code of ethics in the execution of his/her activities/programs, command some degree of public fascination, influence or shape the Audio media (Radio) landscape positively, and has impacted the lives of people in the community and contributed to the growth and development of the nation. All nominees had a 40% votes from the general public, 50% votes from the commission of independent judges and 10% votes from the GAICAM board. The judges which constituted 50% of the vote had to carry out their background checks and private reviews in order to independently pass their judgment to whether the candidate deserve the award or not. Gemnda Emmanuel had a 28% vote from our independent commission of judges, a 32.16% vote from the general public and a 5% vote from the GAICAM board. Making a total vote of 65.16% final results with the runner up having 34.32% which made him the winner of the said category.
