Meet EBAI Rebecca, a fashion designer and a winner of the 2020 edition of the Cameroon Heroes Award, in the category of Impact Fashion Designer of the year. She is a trained medical Laboratory Scientist from Rivers State University of Science and Technology port Harcourt (RSUST), Nigeria. She has been into fashion business since the year 2000, where she has trained and employed scores of young people; founded a vocational training center, (AMA DEI FASHION ACADEMY) and offered free holiday classes for young pupils and IDPs.
Rebecca also engaged in the fight against COVID -19 by producing and distributing good quality face masks to the less privilege through the Aya Aya Foundation. Ebai Rebecca offers scholarships to two students every year at AMA DEI FASHION ACADEMY. Her designs reflect the Bayang and Sawa, Grassfield and Northern tribes and the coastal regions of Cameroon. A multicultural design which includes a blend of several cultural ideas on one outfit, mixed, or imposed on one cultural background to bring out a unique style.
Rebecca was nominated for the Cameroon Heroes award because of the impact of her fashion designing works which has touched many lives. This award category was to acknowledge an outstanding individual with mind-blowing inspiration and brilliance to turn something that stands out exceptional as well as create a signature style, use color to create stunning outfit / design which evoke feelings of excitement, passion and longing and thereby creating impact in the community and contributing to the growth and development of the nation. All nominees had a 40% votes from the general public, 50% votes from the commission of independent judges and 10% votes from the GAICAM board. The judges which constituted 50% of the vote had to carry out their background checks and private reviews in order to independently pass their judgment to whether the candidate deserve the award or not. Ebai Rebecca had a 23% vote from our independent commission of judges, a 17.07% vote from the general public and a 4% vote from the GAICAM board. Making a total vote of 44.07% final results with the runner up having 31.84% which made her the winner of the said category.

Your indiscriminate sacrifices and brilliant initiative has gone a long way in improving the lives of orphans and the less privilege. Making you our Heroin of the year.
