Meet Christian Broadcasting service (CBS) Radio, FM 95.3, the winner of the 2020 edition of the Cameroon Heroes Awards, in the category of Impact Audio Media House of the year. CBS Radio was created by the Presbyterian Church in Cameroon, CBS radio test signals and went on air February, 2004.
CBS Radio Buea FM 95.3 is located at the synod office in Buea Town has as motto; “that in every way Christ is proclaimed,” Philippians 1:18. CBS Radio produces about 130 programs every week due to the commendable effort of 67 volunteers called Voluntary External Broadcasters (VEBS) who produce and present programs at the Station. They reporting on community issues that mostly touches on the plights of the local population, such as water scarcity, electricity outage, bad road networks and other lack of social amenities has seen a tremendous improvement as officials get to react after hearing the cry of the people. CBS radio has a landmark instrument for evangelization, information (which cuts across economy, culture, agriculture, politics, entertainment amongst others), and education of the public.
CBS Radio Buea FM 95.3 was the winner for the Cameroon Heroes Awards because of the impact of their reporting on community issues which have seen tremendous improvement. All nominees had a 40% vote from the general public, 50% from the commission of independent judges and 10% from the GAICAM board. The judges which constituted 50% of the votes had to carry out their background check and private review in order to independently pass their judgment to whether the candidate deserve the award or not. CBC Radio Buea had a 25% vote from our independent commission of judges, 24.92% from the general public and a 6% vote from the GAICAM board. Making a total of 55.92% with the runner up having a 25.84% which makes (CBS) the winner of the said category.
Congratulations once again CBS Radio Buea FM 95.3 for your hard work. You have greatly contributed to the growth and development of your community. You have been an inspiration through your voluntary service to many youths and Cameroon at large. Your media house has given a good training program to the youths. This has made your house the Hero of the year.
